MARSTRAND 12mR CUP RACE REPORT

Marstrand 12mR Cup Race Report, submitted by Christian Hörberg

September 6, 2022, Marstrand Sweden: Nine beautiful 12 metre yachts from the Baltic Fleet have, the past week-end, competed for the Marstrand Cup at the sailing hub Marstrand north of Gothenburg on the Swedish west coast. For a number of good reasons we were able to carry out this Regatta in a most successful way. First of all, as mentioned, no less than nine extremely beautiful yachts participated. Secondly, we were fortunate to have great weather conditions with fair winds and lots of sun. I am also convinced that the yacht owners and their crews were all satisfied with the conditions on the racecourse as well as the social events that took place each day after the sailings. In the organization we had hard working race officials under the supervision of the Commodore of the Gothenburg Sailing Club, Mr Robert Sinclair and the Commodore of the Marstrand Sailing Association, Mr Marcus Blomberg. Finally and most important, we were pleased to have the legendary Swedish sail giant, Mr. Pelle Petterson, handing out the cups during the prize ceremony. Below you will find a photo where Mr. Petterson hands over the Pelle Petterson Trophy to the winner Patrick Howaldt with his yacht s/y Vim (US-15). ~ Christian Hörberg

Editor’s Note: Vim (US-15) skippered by Patrick Howaldt won the eight-race regatta with a total of 13.0 points (w/1 throw-out) closely followed by Northern Light (US-14) with 14.0 points and Nini Anker (N-15) with a 16.0 point total. The top three places in Baltic Handicap scoring went to Flica II (K-14), Trivia (K-10) and Thea (D-1) respectively.
